12. God's Gift by Dee Henderson

Title: God's Gift
Author: Dee Henderson
Genre: Christian Fiction
ISBN: 0-373-78535-6
Pages: 232
Rating: 2/5

About this book:
Missionary work in Africa was the most difficult and faith-affirming work James Graham had ever faced, and warm, homey presents from a Good Samaritan back home gave him the hope he needed to carry on. But an injury brought his work to a sudden halt and sent him home to Chicago.

There, James met the woman who'd sent those thoughtful gifts, the charming Rachel Ashcroft, and he was intrigued by the shadow of sadness that haunted her expression. Bringing the light of happiness back to Rachel's lovely face gave new purpose to his life, but was this only a temporary respite? Or would James be able to realize his past and open his heart to received the gift of Rachel's love?

My thoughts:
Well, it took me quite a bit of time to get through this book. I'm not sure if it was the book or just in a reading stumper. I'm not sure which one or it could've been both. Who knows? Anyways, this book wasn't that great. It was kinda dull and slow moving. The plot line was good though. I wanted to find out what happened at the end so I had to stick with it but to me, it was just a bunch of words put together to make something creative. Anyways, I wouldn't recommend this book nor would I reread it again.

9. The Gifted Sophomores by Terri Blackstock

Title: The Gifted Sophomores
Author: Terri Blackstock
Genre: Christian Fiction
ISBN: 0-8499-4342-6
Pages: 137
Rating: 4/5

About this book:
Three high-school sophomores -
A cheerleader, a nerd, and a jock -
Rescued from the rubble of an earthquake.
Miraculously healed of their injuries -
Then gifted with mysterious powers.

One can see into the hearts of others.
One has feet that carry him to people in need.
One can't stop talking about the Lord.

Before the earthquake we weren't even friends. Now were working together for Christ.

My thoughts:
I really enjoyed this book. I thought that Blackstock probably could have made the book longer and added details but the main focus of the book which is that God wants you to help others and bring people over to his kingdom and to find Christ, and the book got that point across. There's not too much that I can really say about the book to be honest. Yes it was good, but it was awfully short and everything is right to the point. So, with that, I have to end my short description of my thoughts.

4. Covenant Child by Terri Blackstock

Title: Covenant Child
Author: Terri Blackstock
Genre: Christian Fiction
ISBN: 1-59554-328-7
Pages: 335
Rating: 5/5

About this book:
Beautiful, precocious three-year-old twins Kara and Lizzie Holbrooke lived a charmed life with their widowed but doting father, Jack. When he found love and married again, it seemed their lives would finally be "happy ever after."

That new life shtters when Jack and his wealthy parents are killed in a plane crash. Jack's new wife, Amanda, inherits the family's estate, but fails to gain custody of the twins.

And so begins an emotionally charged story that encourages readers to embrace the unique life God has planned for each of His children.

My thoughts:
I actually really enjoyed this book. When I picked it out at the store to put on my Christmas list, I thought maybe it was just going to be an okay read. That it was going to have all this stuff about God in it and everything. But it wasn't anything like I expected. There was mention of God and phrases from the Bible but not anything like I expected. I am so happy that I put this on my Christmas list and received it from my roommate. Basically, after Amanda doesn't win custody of the girls, they go to live with their mother's parents so their grandparents where they treat them bad and lock them in the closet. They tell the girls that Amanda killed their mother, father, and grandparents and stole all their money. It was terrible. The girls grew up in a filthy trailer and dropped out of school and worked at a diner where truckers stopped. They stole and everything but Amanda was there when they turned eighteen and wanted them to come and live with them. There was a stuggle about it cause they believed that Amanda had killed their parents and grandparents and that she was out to kill them too but they found out otherwise. A very good read and something that I wouldn't mind reading again. :)
