12. Night after Night by Kathryn Smith

Title:Night After Night
Author: Kathryn Smith
Genre: Romance - Paranormal
ISBN: 0061632708
Pages:373
Rating: Must Have,
Dates: 2/15 - 2/20
Series/Anthology: 6th in the Brotherhood of Blood series.

About this book:
I am Temple, Guardian of the Blood Grail...

Centuries ago, this magnificent chalice sealed my fate as a vampire, and now I am its protector. Many have hunted me for it, but only Vivian has accomplished the task. Strong, lovely, haunted...I am more attracted to her than I should be, yet her loyalty lies with a man determined to bring about my destruction. But I am not so easily locked in a cage, and now the captive has become the captor.

Though her stormy eyes tempt me, there is too much at stake - not merely my life, but the lives of my vampire Brotherhood. And I am not about using Vivian to achieve my goals, even if it means denying my own heart. The battle to end all battles is just beginning, and I must fight...if I could only let my desire be damned.

My thoughts:
I really liked this book. The beginning was a little boring because they didn't explain too much of what was going on. So it was a little confusing but definitely glad that I stuck with it. The ending was a little weird and they always are when the big fight scene breaks out or whatever but, there was one aspect it that I didn't like. Which will be under the cut. I'm sad to see that this series has ended. All the books were about the different vampires and finding their mate and getting out of the mess that the Order of the Silver Palm created by trying to kidnap them. It would be nice to have a book where they are all together and see what happens after their fight with the Order. My opinion anyway.

3. Angel's Pain by Maggie Shayne

Title: Angel's Pain
Author: Maggie Shayne
Genre: Romance - Paranormal
ISBN: 0-7783-2498-2
Pages: 328
Rating: Worth the Read
Dates: 1/14 - 1/18
Series/Anthology: 3rd in the "new" Wings in the Night Series.

About this book:
Briar nees just two things: blood and vengeance. The first sustains her immortal life; the second gives it meaning.

First on her hit list is Gregor, the renegade vampire who schooled her in a brutality, then betrayed and tortured her. To acheive her deadly ends. Briar joins the inscrutable Reaper and his misfit gang of vampires who are also hunting her old mentor.

But once she's destoryed Gregor, she'll be gone. The group means nothing to her. Not even Crisa - damaged, defenseless, a liability in every way - the childlike vamp with whom Briar shares a blood bond. Or Reaper. Though they shared one moment of pure passion, it's not as though Briar has feelings for him.

Because Briar needs no one. She needs only to statisfy her twin hungers - ones that may ultimately consume her.

My thoughts:
Good book. I've read better by Shayne but still it was good enough to hold my attention and keep me interested in what was going to happen. In this series, you never know what's coming because there always seems to be some kind of surprise. The first Wings in the Night series by Shayne I would say is way better. Only because it seemed more about love and romance and this new Wings in the Night series is more mystery and has a lot of scientific stuff in it.

But even as their desire for each other begins to overtake them, Zsadist's thirst for vengeance against Bella's tormentors drives him to the brink of madness. Now Bella must help her lover overcome the wounds of his tortured past and find a future with her....

My thoughts:
I loved this book. It started out a little slow for me but I really ended up liking it!!! Anyways, so far I think that Rhage's story is my favorite. I cried like a baby reading that book and only a little bit in this one. I do have to admit that this book was more funny and I really enjoyed laughing at Zsadist. He loved Bella so much and he wanted to be what she wanted but he felt that he was dirty because he was a blood slave in the past. She tried to be so patient with him but he just kept pushing her away and being mean. I loved the character that Ward made with Zsadist. She made people love him but yet hate him in the same kind of way. I mean, who wouldn't love a guy that didn't know his way around a relationship and that was just starting to figure out what love was? But then again, he was so mean to everybody you hated him but you also understood what Zsadist when through to make him that way. I hope that makes sense. Anyways, a very good book.

And her choice may mean the difference between survival and all - out catastrophe...

My thoughts:
Very good but still not the best in the series. The ending was very intense and had me sitting on the edge of my seat. I had a hard time with this book because of all the characters that came into it. And all the characters that were from other books and I didn't remember. So trying to keep track of who everybody was, was a little difficult. I can't wait to read From Dead To Worse but that will be awhile until I can get it from the library. I have a position held and whenever it's my turn, I'll be able to read it.

26. Living Dead In Dallas by Charlaine Harris

Title: Living Dead In Dallas
Author: Charlaine Harris
Genre: Fantasty/Mystery
ISBN: 0-441-00923-9
Pages: 291
Rating: 3/5
Series/Anthology: Yes, 2nd in the Southern Vampire Mystery series.

About this book:
Cocktail waitress Sookie Stackhouse is on a streak of bad luck. First, her coworker is murdered and no one seems to care. Then she's face-to-face with a beastly creature that gives her a painful and poisonous lashing. Enter the vampires, who graciously suck the poison from her veins (like they didn't enjoy it).
Point is, they saved her life. So when one of the bloodsuckers asks for a favor, she complies. And soon, Sookie's in Dallas using her telepathic skills to search for a missing vampire. She's supposed to interview certain humans involved. There's just one condition: The vampires must promise to behave - and let the humans go unharmed. Easier said than done. All it takes is one delicious blonde and one small mistake for things to turn deadly...

My thoughts:
Actually, I thought the first book was way better than this one. I was so disappointed cause this one was just so dull. I mean, it was filled with a lot of action and different events that would probably have you sitting on the edge of your seat I guess...but I wasn't thrilled with it. Don't get me wrong...not all of the book was bad. There were some great parts in there that had me wanting to finish reading it but it just wasn't as good as the first. I'm hoping the third book will be better.

54. Be Mine Tonight by Kathryn Smith

Title: Be Mine Tonight
Author: Kathryn Smith
Genre: Romance
ISBN: 0-06-084836-7
Pages: 370
Rating: 5/5
1st in a series

About this book:
I am called Chapel . . .

For nearly six centuries I have roamed the night, a mortal man no longer. Would that I could undo the past -- when I entered the sanctuary of the Knights Templar to wrest from them the Holy Grail, only to discover the chalice I raised to my lips was not the sacred relic but a hellish cup of damnation. Now I shun the day and all things human, driven by an ungodly thirst. And yet . . .

Never have I known a maiden the like of Prudence Ryland, whose beauty and spirit awaken a heart I feared long cold and dead. But her young life is slipping away, and she also seeks the deliverance of the Grail -- unaware that the cost of her search could be her soul. I must help Prudence, for in six hundred years, no other woman has stirred my passions so. But dare I tender to my beloved that which she most desires -- the sensuous "gift" of forever that is both rapture and a curse: my immortal kiss?

My thoughts:
I absolutely loved this book. I fell in love with the concept and the idea from the first paragraph. It's got and awesome story and plot. Definitely a re-read and a keeper. The characters were very believeable and very well thought out. It takes you for a little look into history but not over done or anything. The main characters, Chapel and Pru, they were so fun to read about because they constantly teased each other and you could just feel the love coming out of the book. Yes I know I'm a dork but I mean, that's definitely something that is worth sharing. Anybody that likes/loves romance novels you have to read this book. Believe me, you won't be disappointed.

43. Dark Challenge by Christine Feehan

Title: Dark Challenge
Author: Christine Feehan
Genre: Romance
ISBN: 0-505-51409-0
Pages: 377
Rating: 3.5/5

About this book:
In this anxiously awaited paranormal romance from Feehan's acclaimed "Dark" series, a brooding but powerful loner meets his match in the woman he is sworn to protect. His dark hunger to possess her blinds him to the danger stalking him.

My thoughts:
Okay, so this is the 5th book in the "Dark Series" and it wasn't too bad. I mean, it was still repeative but different because they brought more Carpathians into this story. Finally some other characters. Lost characters I guess I should say. Anyways, a totally better storyline. There was actually some excitment to this book as opposed to all the same damn sex scenes and more to just hunting and killing the vampires. So, I didn't get so bored with this book. Anyways, I loved the characters too. I loved Julian who is the twin brother from Dark Gold and his mate is Desari...(I think that's how you spell her name). Anyways, they were fun characters like Adian and Alex were. It was a good story.

42. Dark Magic by Christine Feehan

Title: Dark Magic
Author: Christine Feehan
Genre: Romance
ISBN: 0-505-52389-2
Pages: 358
Rating: 2.5/5

About this book:
Though a world-famous magician, young Savannah is held in a terrifying thrall by the most powerful of Carpathian males. With a dark magic all his own, Gregori, whispers in Savannah's mind that she has been born to save his immortal soul. And now, in New Orleans, the time has come to claim her.

My thoughts:
Okay, so this is the 4th book in the "Dark Series" and I wasn't really thrilled with it. I'm 2 for 2 now. I liked the first one, I hated the 2nd one, I loved the 3rd one and now I wasn't thrilled with the 4th one. So like I said, I'm for 2. I'm eventually going to read the whole series but I don't think I can just read them all at one time. There's too much repetitation. Anyways, I liked the characters but I thought that there needed to be something else that spruced up the rest of the story. It was just too much of the same kinda thing and way too much sex in this story. I know her books are like that but just way too much in this one. She just describes all this sex all the time and it lasts like 3 to 4 pages sometimes. Geesh...I think us readers get the picture ya know? I wasn't really thrilled with the story line either...It was mainly the ending though where they go into the swamp to take down the master vampire. I didn't like all that and I didn't like the characters "other characters"...*shrug* However I did like the human that ended up coming into the story which was on the vampire hunters team but realized that all the other workers for that team were trying to hurt the Carpathians...so...therefore he made friends with Gregori and Savannah. :) It was an okay book though. Nothing special though.

But is she to be his healer...or his prey? His victim...or his mate? Is he luring her into madness...or will his dark desire make her whole?

My thoughts:
Okay. I didn't read this whole book this year. I read part of it last year and ended up not finishing it. So...I ended up finishing it this year because I wanna try and finish reading the rest of the series. I hated this book. I couldn't stand it at all. The ending was okay but the beginning and middle was torture to get though in my opinion. I didn't like the characters, I didn't like the place it took place in, I didn't like...all the love making in the book either. I think everything just took a factor in why I didn't like this book. Now, I've been informed that the rest of the series is really good so I will try reading the rest of the series. I can't really say much more than the fact that I didn't like this book so I'm ending it here.
