My thoughts:
I hate to say this but I totally disliked this book. It took me almost a month to read it because it was just so boring. I mean, some parts were really good but then the bad parts just took away from the good parts. I was really disappointed to be honest. J.R. Ward had me mesmerized by this series and then I get to Butch (who I must say, I was really looking forward to reading) and it's boring and just dull. Hopefully the next book will be better. And not so confusing. This book was majorly confusing too.

Major Spoilers... )

Genre: Romance
ISBN: 0-312-36477-6
Pages: 328
Rating: 2/5
Series/Anthology? No.

About this book:
Meg White leads a comfortable life as a chef in Portland, Oregon. Nothing prepared her for a man like Jordan Blair, the rich, magnetic stranger of luxuary - and sin. Obsessed with Jordan and drawn to his dark sexual kinks, Meg allows him to transform her into a sophisticated beauty with no ties to her past. But soon she's trapped in a web of lust and sexual depravity. She doesn't know whether the man who's consumed her life is good or evil, whether her nights are filled with pleasure or pain - or how she'll ever survive...

My thoughts:
I wasn't thrilled with this book what so ever. It was given to me by someone that thought that I would like it and I most definitely did not. There was too much sex involved in it for my tastes and it was very disturbing. Basically, it's about a woman that ends up leaving the life she leads to be with this stranger who she hardly knows. He's a very kinky man and likes sex all the time and makes Meg do all these kinky things. Eventually she marries him and he becomes even worse. He makes her have sex with other men but drugging her and she doesn't know it. Has her take Xanax to "calm her down" when she really doesn't need it. Makes her do all these things. Won't let her leave their penthouse and won't let her contact anybody. It's crazy. It was a very crazy story. I was sickened by it but I had to finish it cause I was so far into it. I wouldn't recommend this book to anybody.

12. God's Gift by Dee Henderson

Title: God's Gift
Author: Dee Henderson
Genre: Christian Fiction
ISBN: 0-373-78535-6
Pages: 232
Rating: 2/5

About this book:
Missionary work in Africa was the most difficult and faith-affirming work James Graham had ever faced, and warm, homey presents from a Good Samaritan back home gave him the hope he needed to carry on. But an injury brought his work to a sudden halt and sent him home to Chicago.

There, James met the woman who'd sent those thoughtful gifts, the charming Rachel Ashcroft, and he was intrigued by the shadow of sadness that haunted her expression. Bringing the light of happiness back to Rachel's lovely face gave new purpose to his life, but was this only a temporary respite? Or would James be able to realize his past and open his heart to received the gift of Rachel's love?

My thoughts:
Well, it took me quite a bit of time to get through this book. I'm not sure if it was the book or just in a reading stumper. I'm not sure which one or it could've been both. Who knows? Anyways, this book wasn't that great. It was kinda dull and slow moving. The plot line was good though. I wanted to find out what happened at the end so I had to stick with it but to me, it was just a bunch of words put together to make something creative. Anyways, I wouldn't recommend this book nor would I reread it again.

6. Tempting Fate by Susan Sizemore

Title: Tempting Fate
Author: Susan Sizemore
Genre: Romance (In an anthology "Moon Fever")
ISBN: 1-4165-1490-2
Pages: 62
Rating: 2/5

About this book:
Desiree dreams she spent a passion-filled night with sexy rock star Jon Coyote...and that he told her he was a vampire. But when Desiree discoversshe is mysteriously pregnant, her erotic fantasy takes a strangely realistic turn.

My thoughts:
I wasn't really thrilled with this story. I mean, what can 62 pages really do for a reader. Plus, it was kind of confusing with the dream and then jumpthing back 10 years and then never saying that they were back to present day. I thought that the story was too rushed and too crammed together that it didn't make a whole lot of sense. I think that Sizemore made a whole new world of vampires but since the story was so short, she didn't even get to explain their world to the reader. Also, the characters didn't even seem that believeable either. Not thrilling at all.

Breath of Magic by Teresa Medeiros

Title: Breath of Magic
Author: Teresa Medeiros
Pages: 374
Rating: 2/5
Genre: Romance

About this book:
Boy millionaire Tristan Lennox, a pagan satyr in a $2000 suit, throws an annual magic contest in Manhattan to try to trace his former partner, who stole a magic computer program named Warlock and disappeared into the ether. Smack into the middle of his special event, riding her willow broom, flies Arian Whitewood, a 17th-century witchlet from Massachusetts, who rubbed her emerald amulet and conjured herself away from the mob of Puritans who were trying to drown her. Arian, petite and fiery, has to contend with the new magic of the 20th century; and Tristan has to learn to trust again, as is the vogue.

My thoughts:
Well, this book was very different writing style then I'm used to. I must say that I felt like I couldn't conjure up a picture in my head of what was happening. When I read a book, I feel like I'm watching a movie but I felt like I couldn't find that comfortable spot to see a movie in my head. I hope that makes sense. I mean, some parts were written really well where I could picture what was going on and then other parts were just dead to me. Then there was too much description where there didn't need to be any and then where there should've been descriptions, there wasn't. I'm hoping that it was just with this book. There's a sequel to this book called Touch of Enchantment and I plan on reading that one. I mean the story was great! I thought that it was very imaginitive and everything but just the way that it was written sucked. It totally took away from the story itself. I'm very disappointed with this. Like I said, I hope that maybe her other books aren't like this one, maybe she got better at writing. Let's hope ah? Anyways, I loved the LOVE/HATE relationship between Tristen and Arian. Them not being able to trust each other and then finally them turning out loving each other so much. I loved the fact that Medeiro's took you back in time to 1696 and everything. It was cute. It was a very good story other than the writing. Would I recommend this book to anybody? Probably not.

Picture Perfect by Jodi Picoult

Title: Picture Perfect
Author: Jodi Picoult
Pages: 369
Rating: 2/5
Genre: Fiction

About this book:
As Jodi Picoult's Picture Perfect begins, it is daybreak in downtown Los Angeles. A woman suffering from amnesia is taken in by an officer new to the L.A. police force, after he finds her wandering aimlessly near a graveyard. Days later, when her husband comes to claim her at the police station, no one is more stunned than Cassie Barrett to learn that not only is she a renowned anthropologist, but she is married to Hollywood's leading man, Alex Rivers.

As Alex helps Cassie become reaccustomed to her fairy-tale existence, fragments of memory return: the whirlwind romance on location in Africa, her major anthropological discovery, the trajectory of Alex's career. Yet as Cassie settles into her glamor-filled life, uneasiness nags at her. She senses there is something troubling and wild that she cannot remember, something that would alter the picture of her perfect marriage. When she finds a positive pregnancy test in her bathroom, she is flooded with dark memories. Trying to piece together her past, she runs to the only person she trusts will keep her hidden -- Will Flying Horse, the policeman who had initially harbored her.

Moving from the sweltering African grasslands to the desolate plains of the reservation to the claustrophobic glitz of Hollywood, Jodi Picoult's story is one rich in detail, breadth, and emotion. Picture Perfect is a lush, beautifully written novel that will captivate its readers.

My thoughts:
To be honest, I hated this book. I was being generous with the rating I gave it. I was disappointed. When I started reading Picoult's books, I thought that all her books were going to be great since she seemed like such a fabulous author. Well, this book was horrible. I don't know what to say other than that. I'm speechless because of how much I disliked this book. Hmmm...okay well first, the way you present a book and what format you use to write it, says a lot. I hated the way this book was set up. I loved the way The Pact was set up and Plain Truth was set up in a good way. This was just stupid. I guess the only thing I liked about this book is that Alex beat up Cassie but then she overcame it and saw that it was never going to change. I like to read books where the man or woman beats up the significant other (or kids) and then the one taking the abuse, overcomes it and does something about it and moves on to better things. Anything other than that, was stupid. That's why I felt it took me forever to read it. To any Picoult fans, I WOULD NOT suggest this book.
